We should use discernment in everything we do. I'm reading my first Thoreau stuff right now and I'm reading with the same discernment I would if it were (a person I agree with, from all that I know about him and have ever read about him, so far) a J. Vernon McGee book. Being raised in a church where you didn't ask questions, you just took the Pastor's word for it, has made me into the leery, cynical, un-trusting, critically thinking person that I am today.
