I had to suffer through the whole Letterman show to see this Friday night. I've never watched Letterman before and was amazed at how little he seemed to know about the guests on his show.  

My favorite part of the show was when the ridiculously talented Noam Pikelny was presented the Steve Martin Prize for Excellence in Banjo and Bluegrass (and a nice fat $50k) and when they come back from a commercial break Letterman refers to him as "THE GUY WHO WON THAT AWARD." For reals? Out of the three guests on the show that night he couldn't remember his name?
