SCCA Oak Tree Nationals
"If there's a heaven on Earth, it's VIR" — Paul Newman
If you live in/around NC/VA & care anything about motorsports, there is no reason for you not to have spent a weekend at VIR. We went up for Sunday's race which was identical to Saturday's schedule as this event was a "Double National" weekend which means you qualify and race all within the same day, then do it all over again the next day. The weather was beautiful and the crowd was thin (both the weather and the thinned crowd were most likely due to the tornado's that blew through on Saturday).
So, if you haven't been to VIR, mark these weekends on your calender:
— May 7th-8th is the big SCCA Al Fairer SAARC/MARRS Challenge
— May 13th-15th is the even bigger Bosch Engineering Rolex Grand-Am Race
(*always buy tickets in advance at home & print them out — it'll save you at least $10 on each ticket)
*The Vette pics are of not of a senior citizen's C6 parked at K&W as you may normally find your average C6 Vette. They are of P Whitt's z06 that is filthy nasty and hasn't been washed since he bought it. One day when he finally decides to wash it we'll head out to shoot it proper like. I like to make fun Parker for being the youngest owner of a z06 by a good 40 years, but if you've never experienced 505hp up close & personal, holy sheez now I understand what could persuade a person to buy one of these.
